I stumbled upon a list of the ’10 Best Books About Modern Egypt’ on Goodreads, and I’m sorry to say that it couldn’t be further from the truth.
While some of these books are decent, others aren’t worth your time, in my humble opinion. However, the real issue isn’t the quality of the books but the selection itself.
These aren’t the 10 best books on modern Egypt; they are 10 books chosen to present a specific, politically-driven perspective on Egyptians today.
I won’t be linking the list, but you can check it out for yourself.
